Description

Collective for Youth is offering a two-day Summer Institute program this summer at the Swanson Conference Center located on MCC’s Fort Omaha Campus at The Institute for Culinary Arts (Building 22), 5370 N 30th St, Omaha, NE 68111.

As a leader, you’re expected to stay ahead of the latest trends and constantly grow as a person and a professional. The ability to create a culture that impacts our society for generations, takes PURPOSE, SKILL and INFLUENCE. This two-day institute will help equip attendees with practical information in order establish solutions for tomorrow challenges.

The goal of the Leadership Institute is to provide an interactive learning environment which would give the attendees the opportunity to explore their leadership identity, learn practical strategies for building an inclusive culture, implant research based program principles, and to give them the tools they need to build a strong out of school time program. Combined, there were nearly 60 out of school time professionals in attendance from 18 different organizations. The training was geared toward out of school time managers that are in charge of supervising the site’s staff.  One attendee stated, “The three-day Leadership Institute was an insightful experience that allowed me to better understand my leadership style as well as how to best use my leadership style when working with others.  I really felt as if I am better able to step into my leadership position because I took the time to examine myself, not only in this role but in all areas of my life”.

LaRon and Gwyn use a unique approach that helps to create a stimulating and safe environment.  Attendees gained insight on their own personal strengths and weaknesses, as well as their own team’s strengths and challenges. Attendees also walked away with tools to assist them in building and leading a team, building stronger team communication, knowledge of how to best delegate to, empower, and set specific goals for those they lead.  It was inspiring to hear about each attendee’s growth as a result of the institute. For example: “I had the pleasure of attending the Leadership Institute at UNO recently. It was a great opportunity to evaluate myself as a leader. I was able to get different perspectives from other leaders within the after school sector, but also learn some specific things about myself that I could improve upon. I found that I am emotionally/socially aware. Knowing this about myself, I can help others who struggle in that department understand how much of a benefit it can be within the program. This can pertain to the staff and even the students.”

One book is required for this year’s Summer Leadership Institute:

The book is optionally available for purchase with your registration.
